hakia, Web's New Meaning-Based Search Engine, Completes Main Data Center in Newark, New Jersey

"Data Center offers growth, redundancy and proximity to NYC to support search engines' technology based on QDEX system

New York, January 18, 2007 - New York, January 18, 2007 hakia, the Web's new meaning-based search engine, announced it has completed its main data center in Newark, New Jersey. The Newark data center is the central operations hub for all of hakia's data centers. The datacenter is designed to support the search engine's radically new infrastructure, based on a QDEXing system. hakia innovated QDEXing technology to leapfrog the legacy search technology of indexing. The QDEX system is highly distributed and significantly more scalable than indexing, a necessity to support the higher information density needed for meaning-based search. hakia is available for use in its BETA stage.

The data center's close proximity to New York brings together the development and engineering teams and offers hakia an excellent talent pool for recruiting. In addition, the data center houses several carriers which assure hakia of excellent bandwidth availability.

According to Newark Mayor, Cory Booker, "Companies like hakia are finding that Newark makes economic and geographic sense as a data center. We are glad that hakia has made Newark its home."

According to Dr. Riza Berkan, who is CEO of hakia, "Newark met our needs to have a facility that meets the most stringent technical issues. It gives us room to grow, and has power redundancy to alleviate down time issues. In addition, it is easily accessible from our NYC headquarters."

hakia has been cited in business and technology press as a next generation search technology.
